Shandong Silk - Our Lampshades are made of a special kind of silk called "Shandong Silk", which is made from silk fibers taken from wildworms. When the silk yarns are weaved into a fabric, the distinctive rain-drop-like pattern of Shandong Silk emerges on the fabric because the thickness of the silk yarns is not consisten.  It usually takes one week to get a complete Shandong Silk fabric out of raw silk.  Because this fabric is made from 100% natural silk and the process is time-consuming, Shandong Silk is more precious than regular silk.

craftsmanship - Master Fang is a chief artisan of the lampshade workshop that makes our lampshades. In 1627< his forefather began to make lamps for Emperor Chongzhen of Ming Dynastry in a small village called Fang in Shandong provinice. In ancient time, the technique Master Fang's forefathers used was only allowed to use for the impcrial family.  After Emperor Chongzhen's reign, artisans with that craft and technique became fewer and fewer.  Master Fang in one of the few artisans.  Who succeeded that craft and technique.  Although Master Fang moved form Shandong province to Bejing, he is still using the sme technique to make lampshades for XiaopingDesign.  Because the all lamps are handmade, it takes approximately ten dads to finish one lampshade.
